Day 1: Arrival in Addis Ababa. Arrive in the capital, check in to your hotel, and begin exploring the city's cultural hub. You can visit sites like the National Museum, home to the fossilized hominid "Lucy", and the Holy Trinity Cathedral.


Day 2-3: Bahir Dar & Lake Tana. Fly to Bahir Dar and take a boat trip on Lake Tana to visit the 14th-century island monasteries, known for their vibrant wall murals. You can also visit the nearby Blue Nile Falls, or "Tissiat" (Smoking Water).


Day 4-5: Gondar & Simien Mountains. Drive to Gondar, known as "Africa's Camelot," to explore its medieval castles and churches at the Fasil Ghebbi Royal Enclosure. The next day, drive to Simien Mountains National Park for light hiking and a chance to spot endemic wildlife, most notably the gelada baboons.


Day 6-7: Axum. Fly to Axum, the ancient capital of the Aksumite Empire and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Explore the towering stelae fields, the ruins of the Queen of Sheba's Palace, and the Church of St. Mary of Zion, where the Ark of the Covenant is traditionally said to reside.


Day 8-9: Lalibela. Fly to Lalibela, a rural town famous for its eleven monolithic rock-hewn churches carved directly into the ground in the 12th century. Spend two days exploring this spiritual and architectural marvel, including a potential community hike in the surrounding escarpment.


Day 10-11: Free Day.


Day 12: Departure. Fly from Lalibela back to Addis Ababa
